The first way of resizing an image is great and simple to perform.

1. Obviously you should launch Adobe illustrator.
2. Click on the <file menu> and choose <open>. Now you have to choose a picture which you need to resize.

3) Click on image.

4) Move on top, here is a control panel, on the right you see <transform>, so click on it, the window will show up, set the size in uniform field which you need for example 50%. You may write in this field any size you wish in order to resize the image.

5) As a rule we want to preserve proportions of our pictures, that is the reason why we choose uniform. But you may also select non-uniform and decide horizontal and vertical size of your future picture on your own. The second way

Click on <Object menu> through submenu <transform> and select <scale>.

The following window appears, you need to set desirable parameters of width and height for you photo and press enter.

Thismethod is also good as it is easy to perform and the result isperfect.

The third way

The third idea is the most obvious as you can drag the corners of you picture on your own to desirable state. With the help of scale tool

Though in this case if you scale such image, pixels will cover your entire photo, which looks really inaccessible.

But you may also use the following tip: on top choose on the right to Image Trace little triangle and click on High Fidelity Photo, the processing will take a couple of seconds.

Return on top and click on Expand. This action will allow dragging your images as we had done it before, but now it will keep proportions and allow to get rid of pixels. It works really well with logos, but with faces or objects after scaling blurry effect appears which is also undesirable. That is why two previous methods will work better with real objects and people’s faces.

Adobe Illustrator Artwork (AI) is a proprietaryfile format developed by Adobe Systems for representing single-page vector-based drawings in either the EPS or PDF formats. The .aifilename extension is used by Adobe Illustrator.

The AI file format was originally a native format called PGF. PDF compatibility is achieved by embedding a complete copy of the PGF data within the saved PDF format file. This format is not related to .pgf using the same name Progressive Graphics Format.^[5]

The same “dual path” approach as for PGF is used when saving EPS-compatible files in recent versions of Illustrator. Early versions of the AI file format are true EPS files with a restricted, compact syntax, with additional semantics represented by Illustrator-specific DSC comments that conform to DSC's Open Structuring Conventions. These files are identical to their corresponding Illustrator EPS counterparts, but with the EPS procsets (procedure sets) omitted from the file and instead externally referenced using %%Include directives.

• Inkscape (a free, GPL-licensed program) can import the old PostScript-based Adobe Illustrator format (up to AI ver.8) and AI files based on PDF (AI 9.0 and above).^[9][10]

• Scribus (a free, GPL-licensed Desktop publishing program) can open, edit and embed both PostScript- and PDF-based AI files.

• sK1 (a free, GPL-licensed vector graphics editor) supports PostScript-based AI files up to AI ver. 9.^[11]
• UniConvertor (a free, GPL-licensed vector graphics translator) supports PostScript-based AI files up to AI ver. 9.^[11]
• Xara Xtreme (proprietary program) has support for the format that is described as 'working'. Xara Xtreme for Linux has similar support.^[12]
• XnView uses Ghostscript to handle AI, EPS, PS, and PDF; this might work for AI files saved with the PDF compatibility option.^[13]
• Zamzar (a free online web-based tool) can convert AI files into a variety of image formats, including BMP, GIF, JPG and PNG.^[14]
